Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2014.
What is your primary product or service?
DACS is a computer user group. By sharing knowledge, our members learn and grow in how they use and benefit from their computers and other technology. Our monthly "general meeting" has covered topics like computer security, new operating systems from both Apple and Microsoft, home theaters and "smart" televisions, digital design and 3-D printing, and much more. If it's based on computer technology, chances are you can learn about it at a DACS meeting. Our 12 to 16 page monthly newsletter has been winning awards for 25 years.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The Danbury Area Computer Society is a combination of four computer groups that date back to the early 80's, the early days of personal computers.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
While there are other groups in Connecticut and nearby New York, we are the only club that covers the general interest spectrum. In addition to the "general meeting" we have smaller workshops that meet monthly on specific topics, like Linux, Single Board Computers, Website Design, and everything Apple.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Our monthly "general meeting" is held in the Danbury Hospital Creasy Auditorium. In addition we host four to seven workshops that focus on a specific special interest; these meet at our Resource Center in downtown Danbury.
